Cutting Up from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and happy Saturday! We had a productive day here yesterday. Of course, it started with slow-stitching. I filled my hoop and moved to the next position. I'll be finishing this piece today.

It was a day for working outside. Smitty was feeling reflective about all the work he needed to do. So many small furry critters to kill...so little time.

When there was no putting it off any longer, we all headed outside. And let me just say that when the whole famdamily goes outside, it's quite a treat for the kitties. Sadie ...

Do-Nothing Day from ... Cat Patches

It isn't quite accurate to say it was a "do nothing" day. We did go to the grocery store, and we bought the place out. There are no good shopping options without driving a significant distance from next week's destination in Death Valley, and so we needed to stock up to get us through the end of this week and next week. As it is, we'll probably make another short trip on our last day here in Pahrump. When we got home, we put the groceries away and then headed over to Carl's, Jr., to get ...

Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness Area from ... Cat Patches

Good early morning, my friends. We're moving on to Bernalillo, New Mexico, this morning, and so I'm here bright and early to catch up on the goings on here. Kitties have had their treats, and I'm drinking my first cup of coffee. I barely have my eyes opened, and so I'm hoping this will be somewhat coherent.

Backing up to yesterday, we started our day by finding a McDonald's along our route to the Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness Area. We haven't had our beloved Egg McMuffin since leaving home, and we were Jonesing for it ...

Bernalillo, New Mexico from ... Cat Patches

The kitties are such old hands at traveling these days, they don't even budge when we start to bring in the camper slides. Smitty was napping on one of the chairs. This is a slide that comes in. Directly opposite, the kitchen slide also comes in until it nearly touches where Smitty was snoozing. He looked up and yawned and then went back to sleep. Booorrrrrrring.

Sadie hops up into the small space of her cubby. She feels secure in the confined space, and she sleeps while we go down the road.

Back from the Beach from ... Cat Patches

We couldn't have planned our beach trip any better if we'd been clairvoyant. While there was a heat wave raging back home, we were enjoying relatively chilly weather at the beach in Winchester Bay, Oregon. I hope y'all have been behaving yourselves...not getting sick, etc. I have a lot of pictures to show today, so just get yourself a cuppa cuppa and let's have a chat.

We left around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. We were towing our ATV's and so this was truck camper adventure.

Two Slug Ranch from ... Cat Patches

We both admitted to being lazy yesterday. We did some stuff in the morning. We took Mike's truck in for service. An early-morning outing is always a good excuse for our beloved Egg McMuffin. For the past year-plus, we've been eating them in our private dining room...the one located in the parking lot of the Bi-Mart next door. Yesterday, we dined in. Yeah...impressive, no? (No?) After that we came home, and I did my one housekeeping chore and then watered the flower pots.

The kitties had to wait to go outside until we came home. Lately ...

Back from the Beach from ... Cat Patches

We had a relaxing and fun week at the beach. It's just as well I wasn't planning to blog from there because we had no cell signal at our campsite. It was surprising since we were only about 100 yards (as the bird flies) from the main highway. Even on the highway, cell service was a little sketchy. So, all of that aside, I have so much to tell you! I believe I'll break it into three separate posts, just to keep the number of pictures down to a dull roar.

Before I go on, though, rumors ...

Palomar Mountain from ... Cat Patches

There was no sewing yesterday, although I did start the day by stitching my inchy. This was another devoted to fly stitch.

This morning's is already stitched too. This one is devoted to feather stitch.

But let's just back up to yesterday, shall we? We decided to take a drive out to the Palomar Observatory. You can read more about it at that link, but the most important thing to know about it is that it was, in its day, the largest telescope of its kind. Wikipedia tells us:

The 200-inch telescope is named after astronomer and telescope ...

Bridge Spring Arch Hike from Cat Patches

It was cloudy and cool yesterday, but there was no rain in the forecast. We decided to get out for a short hike. Our hiking book instructed us to drive south and then east to an unmarked and unsigned parking area. There are acres of solar panels in this part of Nevada, and more being built. It looks a little like the surface of a lake.

The parking area was to be found at the top of "Rifle Pass." When we saw this sign indicating a downhill portion, we were fairly certain we'd reached the top of the pass ...

Sitting and Stitching from Cat Patches

Okay, well we had big ideas about hiking yesterday, but then we got lazy. Also, we were watching the impeachment trial, which was interesting. We're leaving Boulder City tomorrow, and so we made a short grocery shopping excursion and filled our truck with fuel for the journey. Tomorrow we'll be in Laughlin, Nevada.

As for yesterday, I spent most of the day stitching. My thumb didn't object to this until I tried to let loose of the needle. Then, and only then, did I realize how stiff it was after hours of stitching. Definitely, I was over ...
